Research Security, Integrity and Compliance
The Office of Research Security, Integrity and Compliance (RSIC) mission is to protect the security and integrity of the Boston College research enterprise; provide support and guidance to faculty and staff engaged in research, academic, administrative and business activities; ensure compliance with all applicable BC policies, U.S. laws and federal regulations; and support BC’s strategic goals to expand the University’s research and scholarship and increase its global presence.
RSIC is responsible for the following compliance programs:
- Research Security
- Research Integrity
- Research Misconduct
- Export Controls
To accomplish its mission, RSIC works closely with other offices within the Office of the Vice Provost for Research (VPR), including:
- Office of Sponsored Research
- Office of Research Protections
- Office of Technology Transfer and Licensing
- Office of Research Infrastructure
RSIC also regularly coordinates and works with several offices outside of the VPR, including:
- Office of General Counsel
- Office of the Vice Provost for Faculties
- Office of the Vice Provost for Global Engagement

The University ethics reporting hotline provides an anonymous channel for employees to facilitate reporting of possible illegal, unethical, or improper conduct when normal channels of communication are not available or are impractical under the circumstances.
